Description

Einojuhani Rautavaara s popular Cantus Arcticus – concerto for birds and orchestra – is a moder classic that has thrilled audiences since the 1970s. Peter Lönnqvist s transcription for birds and piano is idiomatic, challenging and ear-opening version of the work. The transcription successfully captures the essence of Rautavaara s musical language, harmonies, melancholy and solemnity. For the birds singing, an amplified sound system is required for a performance of this work.
